When selecting a metering location, consideration must be given to protecting the meter set from damage by external forces. Examples of such forces include, but are not limited to, motor vehicles, excessive vibration, falling, accumulation of ice or snow, and pedestrian traffic (NFPA 54, Section 5.7.2). Any meter set that is installed adjacent to a driveway, roadway, or parking lot must be located and protected in such a manner that the potential for being damaged or covered during snow removal is minimized. REC will provide vehicular protection deemed necessary at the time of initial service installation. The member may be responsible for or charged for any subsequent vehicular protection.
